Noise reduction today Have you ever used a software or hardware tool to remove noise and unwanted hiss from your digital recordings? If you have, you are no doubt familiar with the typical filtering effects and "bubbling" or "warbling" artifacts associated with the process that render the results unusable in all but the easiest cases. These artifacts come from the fact that all these processes use rather simplistic filtering methods that do not really "understand" the sound they process in a structural sense. Most of these methods use a Fourier transform based filter that rejects all signals below a threshold (called "subtractive denoising"), no matter if they belong to the sound or not, leaving little of the desired sound intact. Even with little denoising applied, most of the original atmosphere present in your music is lost, making it sound "dry", dull and synthetic.
What Prosoniq Iridium can do After a decade of research into sound recognition, analysis and rendering, Prosoniq is proud to deliver a technology far superior to all presently available techniques. In fact, the process comes entirely without the typical artifacts that you've come to expect from such a process, truly treating your precious material with the care it deserves. The Prosoniq Iridium technology is based on recognizing the basic model the processed sounds are based on, rejecting the part of the recording it cannot assign to such a model. Artificial Neural Networks are being used to derive the basic sound properties (the sound's underlying physical model) from the sampled music to provide a better and more human way of rejecting unwanted signal components. In other words, Iridium treats your music as sound and not just numbers.
New technology Debuting with the novel <Neuron> synthesizer that allows high quality synthesis of sounds based on Prosoniq's technologies for sound analysis and rendering, Prosoniq are proud to continue the application of their new technology into the fields of structural audio for signal processing. Please feel invited to check back here often to learn more about this exciting new technology and its integration into Prosoniq's line of commercial products for popular platforms. The Prosoniq Iridium technology is also available for licensing, please choose the appropriate category from the menu at the top of the page.
